Okhrey:- Okhrey is one of the new destinations in Sikkim. You can spot this small cozy and less famed village of Okhrey on your way to Varsey, one of the most sought – after trekking trails of Sikkim. It is the most popular base for the Varsey Rhododendron trek. At Okhrey, you can stay overnight and start your journey to Hilley around 10 kms away by car the next morning. You have to park your car at Hilley and start your 4 km long trek to Varsey from Hilley. After starting your journey from Okhrey towards Hilley, you will pass through a small natural lake, some breathtaking views of Mt. Kanchenjungha and endless stretches of Rhododendrons. You will truly be amazed by the breathtaking natural splendor of Okhrey and its surroundings, shrouded with tranquility, where you can find your peace of mind.

Barsey Rhododendron Sanctuary:- The Barsey Rhododendron Sanctuary lies in the south west corner of the West Sikkim district. Spreading over 104 sq. km, across the razor sharp Singalila Range, which forms the natural international border with Nepal. There are three points of entry ino this sanctuary from Hilley, Dentam and Soreng. Tourists generally prefer Hilley since it is approachable by road. The bridle path from Hilley to Barsey is a favorite amongst tourists especially during the Rhododendron flowering season. The faunal value of Barsey Rhododendron Sanctuary includes Leopard cat , Himalayan Yellow Throated Marten , Himalayan Palm Civet, Himalayan Langur, Crimson Horned Pheasant, Monal Pheasant, Kaleej and many diverse species of birds.
The Barsey Rhododendron Sanctuary spans over the razor sharp Singalila Range. The climate is wet and cold favoring the spread of the dominant genus Rhododendron. July is the wettest month, with the average annual precipitation being in excess of 250 cm. The reaches above 2500m receive regular snowfall in winter. Clear skies can be experienced only from November to May.
A beautiful Tourist Trekker's hut exists in Barsey, amidst the Rhododendron forests at 10,000 feet, commanding a glorious view of the Singalila Range.

After morning breakfast we will proceed for Temi Tea Garden.
Temi Tea Garden:- The Temi Tea Garden lies between Damthang and Temi Bazaar along the way to Singtam. It was, established in 1969 by the Government of Sikkim and covers an area 440 acres. This is Sikkim’s sole tea garden and connoisseurs will tell you that it is truly solitaire. The tea produced here enjoys international repute commanding premium prices in world auctions. The last king of Sikkim initiated tea growing in Sikkim to provide employment for Tibetan refugees fleeing the Chinese invasion of their homeland. Initially a small plantation was started in Kewzing. This later moved to Temi and a proper processing plant was constructed. The government owned estate today produces about 1 lakh kg of tea annually. Temi tea is planted along steep hillsides ranging from 1200-1800m. The factory is situated at 1500m and the road upto it is lined with cherry blossom trees.

Ralang Monastery:- The Ralang Monastery is known as the most sacred monastery of Sikkim and said to have been built to honour the pilgrimage of the fourth Ghogyal to Tibet. The monastery is home to over a hundred monks and is also known to be the home to beautiful paintings. The annual festival, Pang Lhabsol is celebrated here and the monastery lights up more than it already is to embrace the festival. The monastery is truly the epitome of Buddhist culture and is a must visit to experience the local way of life.
Chardham:- The statue of Lord Shiva which is 87 feet long is one of the most sacred places in Sikkim. The statue is surrounded by the replicas of the twelve jyotirlingas and the four dhams of pilgrimage places in India. The temple complex has a number of other temples as well as a musical fountain. The temple is situated on the Solophok hill from which it derives its name. The center also hosts an array of cultural activities and seminars for which the place is famous both nationally and internationally.

Takdah:-‘Takdah’ the name originated from the Lepcha word meaning fog or mist it is perennially under. Takdah (the alias name of Tukdah) is an enthralling expanse of Darjeeling reminding you of the antique reminiscent charm of the British period, with tea garden and Cinchona plantation in the surrounding area. Situated in the Runglee Rungliot region of Darjeeling district,
Takdah has almost 5100 feet altitude at the foothills of the Himalayan Forest vegetation. Takdah is reputed for having the best British heritage bungalows and orchid garden. It is not a popular tourist destination like Darjeeling which remains pretty congested through out the year.
If you are among those who like lovely mountains, orchids, tea gardens and walking trails through the coniferous forest across the mountain slopes then these small hamlets – Takdah would be the perfect answer.

Takdah Orchid Center:- Amongst the host of attractions and activities, Takdah Orchid Center stands as an ideal reason to fall in love with the place. Normally accessible to the visitors from the months of February and April, Takdah Orchid Center is an exclusive sanctuary to a rarest and a wide variety of orchids. This remarkable Orchid Centre sprawls over an area with historical importance.
Dawaipani:- The village of Dawaipani is a small village at an extremely remote corner of the hills. In fact the road from Dawaipani does not go any further and ends in the village itself. The main attraction of the village and its Homestay is the grand mountain view you can get from here. Majestic snow peaks of Kanchenjunga forms the backdrop of the queen of hills Darjeeling here. On a clear day the view is truly amazing. The area is heavily forested with occasional tea garden here and there.
The name “Dawaipani” literally mean “Water that heals”. The name is derived from mineral spring and hot waters which is said to heal many illnesses. However in the village itself there is no such mineral springs as of now. There are some mineral springs further down the hill and inside the deep forests that can be reached on foot.
Tinchuley:- The word Tinchuley stands for three chullas (chulla means oven), and this is represented by three prominent hill tops that resembels the three chullas. It is an upcoming tourist destination of the region. Tinchuley is a remote hamlet located close to Darjeeling which can be reached through a drive of 32 kilometers. It is at a distance of 80 kilometers from Siliguri, 35 kilometers from Kalimpong and 88 kilometers from Gangtok. The inhabitants of this quiet settlement took an initiative for establishing their locality as a model organic village. With the help of organizations such as the WWF, the village has developed Village Home Stays. The villagers also showed keen interest in modern farming and with the help of WWF they developed floriculture, vermiculture, organic projects.
Lamahatta:- Surrounded by greenery and rivers amidst picturesque terraced farmland, Lamahatta is a small mountain village that now boasts of an upcoming eco tourism destination. Located at an altitude of 1700 meter above sea level and around 23km from Darjeeling, this tourist spot is gaining momentum by leaps and bounds. It has been developed as a honeymoon destination and is a paradise for honeymooners as it offers solitude, picturesque beauty and a feeling of being amidst nature, a perfect platform to get to know each other. Lamahatta is very well connected to Darjeeling- Kalimpong state highway. The beauty of the place is further enhanced by a new garden developed recently surrounded by prayer flags and wide variety of flowers and orchids.
